Monkey bread is always on yhe menu, and the other stuff changes from year to year. Because of scheduling, it doesn't always happen on Christmas morning anymore, but we still always have it at some point. Another favorite tradition is getting a new ornament each year growing up. When I moved out of my parents' house, I got to take them all with me and I had a good start on my own tree. Thanks for the great recipes :)Elissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14598557371285082269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1923128340197223567.post-77296644894967418742011-12-11T00:44:51.068-06:002011-12-11T00:44:51.068-06:00Awww.... Not only were they MINE and DELICIOUS, but each one was beautifully decorated. I'll never forget that gift. I was probably about 6 or 7. Now that our families have expanded, we have moved it to a Saturday or two before Christmas, but we still all get together.

My second favorite holiday tradition is my Mom's annual Christmas Breakfast where we all bring food, musical instruments, and have a JOYful time visiting and usually playing board/card games all morning.

Thanks for letting me share. :)Sarah Burnettnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1923128340197223567.post-23299861018633029932011-11-29T07:14:05.222-06:002011-11-29T07:14:05.222-06:00Your place sounds wonderful for the holidays and w...Your place sounds wonderful for the holidays and what tasty looking goodies! What a treat to be able to relax and gather over brunch. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

We ran a family friendly inn for 5 years, and quickly learned a lot about breakfast dishes that could be made the night before and just pulled out of the fridge and put in the oven. That ease of prep really saved our sanity and we incorporated a lot of what we learned in our home life.

We would do the breakfast casserole. We'd cut up the potatoes the night before (did you know that makes the interior smoother and creamier than if you just cut them up and toss them in the oven? Things you learn from other innkeepers...)

I think what I really love to do on Christmas morning is to have some fresh homemade baked goods. Sometimes we'll make muffins batter ahead, put it in muffin tins without paper, and freeze it. When the "muffin pucks" are frozen, we put them in a freezer baggie. When we are ready to bake on another day, we'll just start up the oven, take the muffins out of the freezer, put them in the tins with paper liners, then bake. No fuss, no muss, and fresh, hot homemade muffins. We are currently the 'hub' where family gathers and that is my favorite tradition. Second fave is sampling the dressing with my sister-in-law as we must make sure the seasonings are just right! Hubby says 'Yuck, you're eating raw dressing again.' Of course, everything in it is fully cooked but you can't convince him. LOL Which is, of course, another family tradition! Happy Thanksgiving!Mollyhttp://www.mollyslewis.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
